It is a new design from our USA water bottle, before from concept to reliability, we always have kinds of stages to step by step develop the part. here are the details that I want to share with you what we did.

First, it is a overmolding design, the metal part is overmolded in the PP material.

Second, to verify the concept, we make the part by 3D printing sample by PLA process.

Third, you can see two different colors to combine them together.

mainly include engineering plastics, photosensitive resins, rubber materials, metal materials and ceramic material. Such as PLA,ABS,PETG, TPU, Nylon, PC and Metal ( Aluminum, SUS304)

3D printing process

FDM: Fused deposition modelling is an advanced 3D printing technique for the manufacture of plastic materials. If the desired part isn’t precision, it is a Cost performance process for choosing, coz the material is quite cheap and the printing speed is quicker but the cosmetic will be a little bit rough. For the consideration, if you just want to check the feature itself, this is a save cost process to think about.

SLA: is a widely-used 3D printing process and the most popular of the resin printing technologies. The process owes its esteem in the additive space to its ability to produce prototypes that are accurate, isotropic and watertight, as well as production parts with impressive surface smoothness and more detailed features.

SLS: Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is an additive manufacturing process that belongs to the powder bed fusion family. The Nylon material always used this kind of process for printing ,coz need to have a strong strength.

So since now, this a 2nd generation for us that want to improve from 1st generation, so consider the cost saving , we use the PLA by FDM process to create the sample to verify. And for the PLA there you can have many more colors that you want to have.

From the image , you can see the fitment also works well by this kind of 3D printing.
